Just what the title says: Devil May Cry 4 is released today for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360! Go grab your copy, and happy playing!
Good news, impatient Devil May Cry 4 fans! A demo of the game is now available on the Xbox Live and Playstation Network, so if you got your next-gen console already, go download it now!
Devil May Cry 4 should be released in North America in exactly one month. Get that pile of change and your PS3 (or Xbox360) ready!
The official Devil May Cry site has also been update with new CGs in the Characters and Devils section. As advanced review copies begin to be distributed, reviews of the game will soon start pouring in, so if you were waiting for that to decide on getting the game or not, keep your eyes peeled. Furthermore, if you want a little taste of the game early, the Devil May Cry 4 Special Soundtrack is in import stores since December 19. Go get it and give it a listen!
The Devil May Cry 4 official site now proudly announces January 31, 2008 as the tentative release date of the game. Sadly for us, it's probably the release date for Japan only.
In the meantime, the site has been updated with the name of two new enemies: Echnida, the snake plant thing with the human-shaped bait fighting Nero in the trailer, and Assaults, which look like the ol'DMC1 Blades (or, alternatively, defrosted Frosts). The Column section also advertises a Devil May Cry 4 Special Soundtrack containing 1 CD and 1 DVD to be put on sale December 19, 2007. Furthermore, the main page announces that popular Jrock group L'Arc-En-Ciel will be composing some music for the game.
New things have been revealed about Dante in Devil May Cry 4, gameplay-wise.
First, the DMC3 styles Trickster, Swordmaster,Gun Slinger and Royal Guard will be back in DMC4, with some variation in the moves. Second, a few new weapons have been revealed. We have already seen Gilgamesh in screenshots, the set of gauntlets and greaves that will remind fans of Ifrit and Beowulf. Kobayashi pointed out that powering up these gauntlets in Swordmaster style would allow Dante to do "Dragon Punches a la Ryu from Street Fighter". Then comes Lucifer, a pair of wings that attach themselves to Dante's back and throw projectiles at enemies. Lastly, Pandora's Box was introduced. An innocuous-looking briefcase, Pandora's Box, as the name indicates, packs a lot more punch than one would think at first glance. Different button combinations can be used to make different weapons out of it, from a simple briefcase that stuns enemies when opened to a devastatingly powerful mobile missile platform that can fire in 360 degrees. OF course, that latter weapon will probably be very difficult to obtain, and Kobayashi has mentioned that it will have a gauge to be filled up to be used.
For those keeping score at home, the previously announced Devil May Cry 3 Dante and Vergil figures now have a release date and a price tag.
The Dante figure is due out in November 2007, for US$65. It is made of PVC and stands 270mm (a little less than 11") high. The Vergil figure, meanwhile, is due out in December 2007, also for approximately US$65 and stands the same height as the Dante figure. It has interchangeable hairstyles (brushed back and hanging down like Dante's). If you want either of them, but especially Dante's, preorder it soon, as it is only available in limited quantities and some stores have already sold out! By Lady_Sparda

The Japanese official Devil May Cry 4 site has been updated!
First, in the Devils section, new enemies have been added: the White Knights, that some had speculated was Nero Angelo's comeback (which it obviously is not now), and Mephisto, that bears a resemblance to the old Death Scissors of Devil May Cry 1. In the Movies section, Capcom has added the longer version of the previous posted trailer that was presented at the recent Tokyo Game Show. In slightly older news, Lady (DMC3) and Trish (DMC1) have been confirmed as appearing in DMC4, and have been added to the Characters section of the site.
We have for you 15 new screenshots straight from Capcom from this years Tokyo Game Show 2007... Enjoy

The Japanese side of the Devil May Cry 4 official site has unveiled 3 new characters who will be present in the game: Credo, Kyrie's brother, Agnus, and Gloria. Little is known so far about these characters aside from the fact that they are member of the Order of the Sword, and so, on Nero's side until further notice.
For those who were wondering, the Devil May Cry anime series advertised by Capcom has begun airing. A promotion episode has been broadcasted in Japan, and the series should begin airing officially on June 14. There are no words on translating the series and airing it outside of Japan.

DMC4 was featured in this Wednesday's Ctrl+Alt+Del strip, with accompanying news article. DMC has been featured in the comic before as we mentioned on this page. Once again the theme is difficulty, and Tim expresses his frustration with DMC3's extreme difficulty. I'm sure he's not alone in finding the game as difficult as he did, but if you want easy, it's well known that DMC2 is the way to go.
New Famitsu Scans:
Scan 1 Scan 2 Scan 3 Scan 4 Scan 1 shows a sweet screenshot of Dante and Nero pointing their guns at each other, as well as some pictures of new areas and a picture of Dante. Scan 2 shows what appears to be the Red Queen's "acceleration" type ability. The sword glows red when this is activated, and it appears to give Nero a speed/power boost. Scan 3 shows some new pictures of Belial, as well as pictures of some Frosts, last seen in DMC1. Glad to see they didn't scrap the snow area. And finally, Scan 4 shows screens of PLAYABLE Dante, as well as more pictures of the snow area, which both Dante and Nero seem to go through.
Some had spread the rumour a few months ago, and it is now confirmed by Capcom itself: Devil May Cry 4 is no longer a PS3 exclusive. The eagerly awaited game will be released for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC simultaneously.
(with thanks to Lord Bacon)
For those following the output of Devil May Cry merchandise, Capcom's new Devil May Cry artbook, called Devil May Cry Graphic File, is now on sale. The remixes soundtrack Dangerous Hits, as well as the 5th anniversary stamps set and posters are on sale as well.
No news on the DMC4 front, beside a Happy New Year message from the official site. By Lady_Sparda

Today's update brings us much more detailed and up-close shots of Nero's face, arm - which sees to be called the Devil Bringer - leggings, clothing and accessories. A great opportunity for fanartists to grab some references, and for icon makers to grab material!
In the Goods page, a new art book is advertised, and judging from the cover it looks amazing. It will be released on December 26. The Diary page today seems to be talking about the environments.
The official site updated today with a new Diary page, which is about the new trailer up in the Movies section. Said trailer is a gameplay segment where you can see Nero doing combos after combos and showing off his vocabulary. For better or worse... he talks and fight just like Dante.
Yes. My title are repetitive.
The woman of Devil May Cry 4 has a name! She is called Kyrie, which is Greek for Lord, as in God. This cannot bode too well. New merchandise is up for sale for Devil May Cry's 5th anniversary: a set of collectible stamps, and some posters. As usual, the Diary has been updated, this time with what seems different logo sketches for the Church of Sparda. A Weapons section has been added as well, but it's not open yet.
The Devil May Cry 4 official site has updated, adding again a new Diary and a new FAQ page, but also putting up something more interesting for us who can't read Japanese: 15 beautiful new screenshots, featuring both Nero and Dante!
The official site's been updated again!
The Screenshot section is finally open, with 5 screens we have already seen, but it's always great to get them without the magazine print artefacts from scans. There's also a Stages section now open, with a view of the city, Fortuna, and the concept sketch of what seems to be a cathedral. The Movie section, of course, gives us a movie: TGS '06's official Devil May Cry 4 trailer, with lots of Nero, Dante, and Nero vs. Dante action. Finally, a weird section has been linked at the bottom of the page. I can't grasp much of the page, but it seems there's gonna be a Devil May Cry anime detailing Dante's daily life, due out in 2007. Odd.
The Devil May Cry 4 official site gave us its first big update since its opening today.
First, we have the first screenshots of the game from Capcom (i.e. not scanned and without game site logos), and the boys look rather awesome. Dante gets two illustrations and two screens, while Nero gets one illustration in addition to the one he had before, plus three screens. The What's Devil May Cry section that just opened briefly presents, with a bunch of CG illustrations I wish were bigger and downloadadble, the universe of Devil May Cry and the three preceding games. Finally, the Diary, in what I presume is the last entry, presents the computer the game will be presented on at the Tokyo Game Show, and gives the hours of the DMC4 demonstration on each day of the convention.
The Devil May Cry 4 official site is now open!
Not much on the site for now, beside ear- and eye-candy. The music is beautiful, and one can admire a CG of Dante, along with one of Nero plus one concept sketch of the new boy. In the side columns, one can get, as usual, a little column about the making of the game (the haunted book), plus announcements for various merchandise. I've previously spoken of Trinity of Fates (see August 12 news), but most notably, Capcom is putting out a new soundtrack for the DMC series (DMC1, 2, 3 and SE music + extras) on sale September 27. The soundtrack is called, and I kid you not, Dangerous Bits. God bless your little perverted, Engrish heart, Capcom. You know your fans' minds, and we love you for it.
The latest issue of Famitsu has four pages dedicated, appropriatedly, to Devil May Cry 4. The coverage is divided half and half between our beloved hero Dante and a new character who looks strangely like him named Nero who wields a sword named Red Queen. Aside from these two, no other character has been announced. However, with the official site opening Friday, we should soon know more about the line-up of the game, and about the weird new boy in town.
Capcom's official Devil May Cry 4 site is not open yet, but a placeholder has been put up.
See you in 7 days!
Rejoice, my fellow DMC4 fans, rejoice! For, according to Gamespot, the game we're all anxiously waiting for will be playable at this year's Tokyo Game Show, from September 22 to 24!
In other words, we'll FINALLY have something new to discuss on the board, and I'll finally have something more meaty to write about here. Mark your calendars!
No, it's not a DMC movie.
For the 5th anniversay of the series, Capcom is be putting on the market another "DVD book". From what I can gather from the text, it contains, again, stylish music videos, but the whole series this time. It'll also include behind the scenes stuff for all the games, and the images/trailers of Devil May Cry 4 showed at the Tokyo Game Show 2005. The "Film DVD Book" is called The Trinity of Fates, is due out August 23rd, and you can find more info on Capcom's online store, if you can read Japanese, that is. No, it's NOT a DMC movie. It bears repeating. By Lady_Sparda

To keep yourself entertained while Capcom insits on not delivering any news about Devil May Cry 4, you can now pick up the Devil May Cry novel, translated by Tokyopop. It's firmly set in an alternate universe, disregarding Devil May Cry 3 completely, but it is still about Dante killing demons, so, close enough, in a way. I think. The second volume is due out November 7 of this year. Hopefully Capcom will give us something about Devil May Cry 4 before that.

Capcom has opened a new site; sadly, not for our eagerly awaited Devil May Cry 4, but rather to celebrate both the 10th anniversary of the Resident Evil series and the 5th anniversary of the Devil May Cry series. Yes, you read right: 5 years of Devil May Crys already! To celebrate, Capcom is releasing an anniversary special DVD on August 23rd, containing:
1. Preview images for RE5 and DMC4 showed at the Tokyo Game Show last year; 2. Promo images for RE4, RE:CVX and DMC3SE; 3. Resident Evil's Wesker's Report. For us DMC fans, it seems it will be included in a re-release of the first's game DVD soundtrack, or a new batch of DMC3SE. It will probably be Japan-exclusive though... By Lady_Sparda

The first volume of the Devil May Cry novel, picked up for translation by Tokyopop, has been released yesterday. Though it might be a little disconcerting at first - in it, Dante bears the name Tony, and meets a man named Gilver, whose name should ring a bell for fans - it's a very interesting item to pick up for the fans of Devil May Cry merchandise. The novel, the first of two volumes, is rated T (13+) and has 224 pages. According to Tokyopop's site, the next and last volume is due out in November.

Contrary to rumours circulating on the internet, Capcom has not yet made any official statement about the supposed release of Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition on the Playstation 2 in Europe. Therefore, until news to the contrary directly from Capcom, you can safely assume that the game will only be released for the PC over there. Sorry guys.

Certainly vosor is late getting into the game because of delays on his site, but as shown in the videos he's as adept at using Vergil as he is with Dante. Okay, there's a lot of news right now about various things, so here we go:
First of all, the SE Offical Site was updated with Column 10, along with some minor info about the Note of Naught UMD for PSP and the DVD Book called Raising the Devil. Column 10 shows various videos that include obtaining certain Blue Orb Fragments with Dante and Vergil, and various tips regarding the Vergil fights. Also, various information has been released on the SE PC Release. For America, the game will be shipped on April 18th and will retain it's price of $20.00! As for news regarding a European shipping date, it has been announced for April 28th. Finally, the computer specs required to play DMC3: SE on your computer are as follows: Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000/XP (only) Proccessor: 1 GHz Pentium III or AMD Athlon (or higher) RAM: 256 MB Video Card: 128 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant AGP or PCI Express graphics card (256 or higher for High Graphics Detail support) Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compliant (or better) DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c or higher (included on disc) CD-ROM: 12x or faster CD-ROM Hard Drive Space: 1.2 GB minimum Peripherals Supported: Gamepad *Supported Video Cards at Time of Release NVIDIA GeForce FX/6/7 families ATI Radeon 9200-9800/X families. I'll admit the specs may be a tad confusing, and I tried to clarify them as best as I could, but I don't think it's anything a quick search on a computer site won't help you with. *MINOR UPDATE (4/15/06)* SE for PC has been delayed. If you ever wanted to know how to beat all the missions of Devil May Cry 3 on Dante Must Die mode, obtaining that elusive SS rank, look no further. Pokey recently completed it, one file per mission showing that it is indeed possible to do every single mission without taking a hit. So if that pesky Geryon, devious Chessboard or evil Arkham have been giving you problems, you may want to check out the link.
First of all, four our fellow Europeans fans waiting for the PC version of the game, with or without bated breath, the game is rumoured to come out April 18.
And now for the official site update. Special Column 09 brings us videos explaining how to do some more difficult parts of the game, specifically Mission 5's Astronomy Board -> Vajura -> Soul of Steel -> cross the schasm part, the easiest way to do the mind-bending Mission 18 Cube Room, how to reach SSStylish! with that godforsaken Rebellion/Yamato Combat Adjudicator near the elevator in Mission 7 with Dante and Vergil using only 3-4 basic attacks, get another SSSthylish! on the Beowulf Combat Adjudicator in the Cube Room, how to do Secret Mission 6 with Dante, and a small video of Vergil being badass in the Love Planet (not that way!). Furthermore, from what I can decipher on the site, a Devil May Cry 3 SE artbook is coming out March 30th! Thank you Capcom!!! The supposed artbook will come with a UMD containing demo movies, the TV commercials, and other such footage. And, sadly, because of my stupid Flash and its hangups about displaying Japanese characters properly, I can't read the second point of the update. Again. Sorry guys. By Lady_Sparda

There are two new Special Columns since the last time I posted, along with a link to an interview about the staff's comments on the game and a third point in the What's New square that is complete gibberish since my computer refuses to display Japanese characters properly in Flash.
Special Column 07 Column 07 gives us absolutely beautiful, if small, screenshots of Vergil as Nelo Angelo, and one of Corrupted Vergil. Special Column 08 Column 08 brings us stylish videos of an amazing display of skills in using Vergil's fully upgraded Phantom Swords, as well as explainations how to slaughter a wide array of things with Vergil's mind... if one can read Japanese. Gentlemen, start your dictionaries!
With a mere 13 days to go for the Japanese release of Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, the official site has been updated again!
First, good news for merchandise collector and amateurs! There will be a DMC3 Sound DVD Book (a DVD soundtrack), like for DMC1 and DMC2, called Raising the Devil. The planned release date in Japan is February 28. Second, the Download section has a new movie to show, a promo for DMC3SE that's already been posted to English game sites I believe. Do be patient, it takes a while to load. Third, the Special Column has been updated again, talking about the promo movie and offering us another gameplay video of aboslutely crazy action of Vergil going all out against Dante 2, then a group of Arachnes. According to an Ubisoft press release, the European branch of the company has signed a deal with Capcom to release the eagerly awaited Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition game in Europe. However, it will not be released on the PS2, as one would expect, but for the PC along with two other Capcom games: Resident Evil 4, and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege.
Why Capcom decided to have the game ported to PC instead of releasing it for PS2 when it is so for America and will be as well for Asia is anyone's guess, but one vital question remains: how will one pull off killer combos with Vergil - and Dante - with a keyboard and a mouse? Only time will tell if European fans will have to buy controllers for their PC, or be able to enjoy their favorite game on the PS2 like the rest of the world. So far, no release date has been announced.
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition has been released in the US finally! Japan appears not to have got it yet which is somewhat bizarre, be sure to check out the DMC3SE page for information on the new features, Vergil's style and what you can/need to do with your weapons and attacks before you can use them.

If you were worried that when playing Vergil in Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition you would have to constantly go to the menu to change weapons, have no fear! In its latest Special Column updates, the official site demonstrates how Vergil can change weapons on the fly with the R2 and L2 buttons, cycling between Yamato, Force Edge, and Beowulf. They also show Vergil using his blue phantom swords as a long range weapon, and that he can use them while making mincemeat out of his enemies with his melee weapons.
On another topic, rumours about a possible UK release are flying around: some speak of a release on PC(?) in March, while others maintain that the UK will not get the Special Edition at all. As no official announcement has been made on this, we can do little but sit and wait. Finally, fellow North-American fans, don't forget that the game will be released in our stores next Tuesday! The official Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition website has updated again, bringing us much new development.
First of all, the Japanese release date is now set as February 26, 2005. Still no news of an American or European release. Second, a Bloody Palace Mode is now confirmed for the game, as well as a possibility to do battle against Jester with either Dante or Vergil. Go into the Features section for a presentation of the new modes, then head over to the Special Column #4 to see screenshots and a video of Dante vs. Jester, a Jester who seems to bleed... confettis? Finally, there is new information in Vergil's section about his different weapons and attacks, along with the name of one of his combos, Dark Slayer.
There is a new column on the DMC3SE official site today, with four new mini-movies and four new screenshots.
The first movie shows Vergil executing a combo with Yamato and the second, one of his combos with Beowulf (different from Dante's combos). Both the third and fourth movies show Vergil doing the same combo with Yamato and Force Edge at the same time: the fourth movie, however, is slowed down so we can see/admire Vergil's moves better. The four screenshots show Vergil attacking enemies, and in two of them we see him using the blue Phantom Swords we all know and love - sort of. So far, the enemies are locations we saw are the same as Dante fought his way through.
If you have visited the Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition official website lately, you may have seen a black box on the front page with what seems to be a release date written on it. Unfortunately, it is not.
A playstation magazine in Japan having wrongly printed the release date of the game as January 26, 2006, Capcom has published this news box on its website to clear the confusion. There is no set release date for Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition as of yet, and still no news of a release outside of Japan. By Lady_Sparda

After all the furore about how Dante looked in the Famitsu scans, it's been confirmed that the Dante we saw there and in the TGS trailer will not be the Dante we play as in Devil May Cry 4. This was seemingly just to show what the staff could do with the PS3 hardware and was an extension of Dante from DMC3.
Also in the article were hints that we may see a return of some of the characters from past DMC games. So Trish, Lucia, Lady, Vergil or maybe others could show up in the game in one form or another. Certainly one of the Famitsu scans shows some of the past characters, so maybe we'll see some old faces in the game.

Images of Dante in Devil May Cry 4 appeared in Famitsu, a Japanese magazine. On message boards across the Internet as well as in online journals/blogs it was met with much criticism over Dante's new look, mainly because he looks a lot uglier than before, different to the first DMC4 images Capcom unveiled at E3. But according to someone here on Game Geek News, those are just experimental images and may not actually be what Dante looks like in the final game. You can take a look at the scans here:
Only when Capcom make a statement about this will we know for certain what these images represent.
As reported in the last article, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition made an appearance at TGS where it has been confirmed. Vergil is a playable character, there is reportedly a cutscene viewer as well as a new difficulty setting. The game is apparently finished and is scheduled for release in Japan this Winter, no word yet on any of the other features that might be in or when the rest of the world will see the game though.

At E3 this year Capcom displayed a few games that would be coming out on Sony's Playstation 3, among them was Devil May Cry 4. Capcom showed a 20 second trailer at E3 which mostly contained footage from the previous 3 games as well as some text such as "Legends are made". Towards the end of the clip Dante is shown standing outside in a very snowy environment with a castle in the distance. That was about all that was shown, but it appears that the castle and surroundings could be the setting for Devil May Cry 4. No other information was given.
