Dante has made a few cameo appearances in his time. It's likely Capcom were trying to raise awareness by throwing Dante into other games prior to DMC3 being released, delaying it as a result. The Devil May Cry game appeared in a few places including the popular online comics Ctrl Alt Del and VG Cats. The Ctrl ALt Del strips can be found here and here and the VG Cats one here.     Dante also made an appearance in a game called Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne Maniax in Japan and Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call in Europe), as seen from these screenshots:

    Dante is an enemy of the game's hero and a boss, but, like nearly all the enemies in Nocturne, he can be recruited as an ally. By going through a special dungeon, the player can make it to a point where Dante becomes available for hiring.
