The latest instalment of the Devil May Cry series is the first on a new platform and looks set to bring a lot of new elements to the game.

The most important change seems to be that Dante is either sharing the spotlight or has given it up to newcomer Nero, a young lad with a resemblance to those of Sparda blood who has a mutated or possessed right arm. Dante seems to be opposed to a demon-hunting order that Nero works for who worship Sparda's legend called the Order of the Sword and based in the city of Fortuna, indicating that Nero and Dante may be enemies at least at some point in the plot. Armed with his distinct sword Red Queen and his double-barrelled revolver Blue Rose, Nero is more than capable of holding his own in supernatural combat.

Furthermore, Nero's right arm has the Devil Bringer power, named in similar fashion to the famous Devil Trigger. The Devil Bringer allows Nero to throw his opponents around using enigmatic powers, bringing them closer, throwing them back or just smacking them around into things, giving him massive potential to control any battle.

A third character has also been shown: a female with brown hair named Kyrie, who took the young orphaned Nero in and probably raised him. She is the sister of the Holy Knights of the Order of the Sword's leader, and Nero's sister/mother figure.

Most other information is still sketchy at this point. For example, one boss, a giant flaming centaur carrying a sword, has been seen on several occasions, and it is also claimed that Vergil will have a role in this game, but Capcom is not giving up any further information for now.
